Haunted House Reviews: 5 Texas Haunted Houses

Just in time for Halloween, a bunch of my friends from the Lariat took the liberty of exploring and reviewing Texas haunted houses — attractions staffed with actors and meant for scares. If you're interested in getting your spook on, you should check out their article on the Baylor Lariat website to see which one they thought was the best.

A note: I've personally visited the Deadzone and Texas Chainsaw Massacre houses, both located on I-35 North of Waco (take exit 345). I found Deadzone to be scary, but not overwhelming. It's great if you're into moderate thrills. On the other hand, I found the Chainsaw house to be very frightening. Out of the two, it's the scariest.

Admission to each house is $13, if I remember correctly, or $26 to visit both. The actors, who interact with customers as they wait in line, never break character. The costumes and makeup are very well done for actors in both houses.

The compound that holds the houses also includes a gift shop (I got a free T-shirt for going in the off season once). The houses run all year and often have some kind of event going on. You can check out the things that are coming up on the house Facebook page.

If you're looking for some Halloween fun, you can't go wrong with a good haunted house. Good luck, and happy hunting!
